Solar Cookers

Solar Cooker Challenge

We have been studying wind, air masses, air pressure and storms so now it is time to do something with fair weather.

Make a Solar Cooker due June 15th so we can go outside and cook. Please bring in the cooker that day rain or shine.

Requirements:
1. must have something you can cook in (shoebox, pizza box, pringles can, cereal box)
2. must have a reflective material (Aluminum foil)
3. should be a dark color so heat can be absorbed

DUE DATE: June 15th

is it ok if i use a smaller box such as a tissue box? i believe it is large enough to fit a smore.

Yes, a tissue box will work!

I wonder, if the aluminum foil is covering the black paper(I'm assuming that because I don't see any in the example photos), then doesn't that defeat the purpose? Aluminum is opaque.

No, remember in class we talked about how black paper will help your cooker absorb heat since it does not reflect. It will make your cooker work better, it will work without it.
